The Quick Answer

SolaX makes a modular lithium iron phosphate (LFP) home battery that suits most Albany homes, from 5.1 kWh up to 20.7 kWh of usable storage. It comes with a 10-year warranty and an IP65 rating, and it stores your daytime solar for the evening peak and for winter outages. Until 31 December 2026 the federal rebate factor is 6.8 STCs per kWh, dropping to 5.7 on 1 January 2027.

Why SolaX Suits Albany Homes

Albany is not Perth. Winters are cooler and cloudier, outages on rural lines are real, and rebates are lower in Zone 4. Here is how SolaX fits.

Modular, so it grows with you

Start with one module and stack more as your needs change. The H 5.8 to H 23 range covers a small unit through to a large rural home or farm.

LFP chemistry

Lithium iron phosphate is the chemistry most Australian installers now prefer for home batteries, for its stability and long cycle life.

Built for the outdoors

IP65 protection and a wide operating range (charge 0 to 55 C, discharge -10 to 55 C) sit comfortably within Albany coastal conditions.

Backup-ready

Paired with a compatible hybrid inverter and an EPS circuit, it can power essential loads when winter fronts knock out the grid.

What Is the Federal Rebate Worth on a SolaX Battery?

The Cheaper Home Batteries Program pays STCs on every kWh of usable capacity. The factor has already fallen once this year and falls again every six months.

The tiers explained

The full factor counts on the first 14 kWh of usable capacity, then 60% from 14 to 28 kWh and 15% from 28 to 50 kWh. That is why the T-BAT H 11.5 (10.4 kWh) is so popular: every kWh earns the full rate. Going to the H 17.3 (15.5 kWh) still pays, but the extra 1.5 kWh above 14 counts at 60%.

Worth knowing

Installing in December 2026 instead of January 2027 is worth about $420 on an H 11.5, and about $650 on an H 17.3. If you are also adding solar, read how the solar rebate changes on 1 January 2027. Western Australian Synergy customers should also ask about the state battery rebate and VPP terms, covered in our Synergy VPP and DEBS guide.

Why Albany Needs a Winter-First Battery Plan

In summer your panels fill the battery by lunchtime. In June and July they may not. That changes how big a battery should be.

  • Size to the evening, not the roof. In June and July Albany panels may not refill a very large battery, so we match capacity to your evening and morning use.
  • Winter fronts and outages. Rural lines around Denmark, Mount Barker and Kendenup can drop out in storms. See blackout protection in Albany.
  • Gas or electric heating? If you plan to move to reverse-cycle heating, size up. We include that in your bill analysis.
  • Not sure? Read the Albany battery size guide.

SolaX Battery Albany: Frequently Asked Questions

What does a SolaX battery cost in Albany?

Price depends on the size, the inverter you pair it with and whether you are adding it to existing solar. We quote a fixed price in writing after a site check, with the federal rebate shown as a separate line. Request a free battery quote and we will show the rebate against your actual power bill.

How big is a SolaX T-BAT H battery?

The SolaX T-BAT H range is modular. Per SolaX Australia, the H 5.8 offers 5.1 kWh usable, the H 11.5 offers 10.4 kWh, the H 17.3 offers 15.5 kWh and the H 23 offers 20.7 kWh. Each is lithium iron phosphate with IP65 protection.

What warranty does a SolaX battery have?

SolaX lists a 10-year warranty on the T-BAT H range. The warranty terms matter as much as the headline number, so we explain throughput limits, retention and who services it before you sign.

Is a SolaX battery eligible for the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate?

Eligible batteries must be on the Clean Energy Council approved list and be capable of joining a virtual power plant. We confirm the exact model and inverter combination against the current list before we quote, so your rebate is never a surprise.

How much is the federal battery rebate in 2026 and 2027?

The STC factor is 6.8 per kWh of usable capacity from May to December 2026, 5.7 from January to June 2027 and 5.2 from July to December 2027. The full factor applies to the first 14 kWh, 60% to 28 kWh and 15% from 28 to 50 kWh.

Will a SolaX battery keep my lights on in a blackout?

With a compatible hybrid inverter and the backup (EPS) circuit wired in, yes. Backup capacity depends on which circuits you protect, so we map your essential loads during the site visit. See our blackout protection guide for Albany.

Can I add a SolaX battery to my existing solar system?

Often yes. It depends on your current inverter. If it is not battery-ready we may recommend a hybrid inverter or an AC-coupled setup. Send us your inverter model and we will confirm.

Does Albany's cooler climate affect battery performance?

SolaX lists a charging range of 0 to 55 C and discharging from -10 to 55 C. Albany’s mild coastal climate sits comfortably inside that, and installing in a shaded, protected location on the wall is standard practice.

What size SolaX battery do I need in Albany?

Many Albany homes suit 10 to 15 kWh usable, which covers the evening peak and overnight use. Winter sun is weaker here, so we size to your evening and morning use, not just your solar. Use our battery size guide or ask for a bill analysis.

Do you install SolaX batteries across the Great Southern?

Yes. We service Albany, Denmark, Mount Barker, Kendenup, Bremer Bay, Walpole and surrounding farms and towns, with a showroom on Sanford Road.
