Growatt Inverters Wi-Fi Reconnect
Growatt Inverters
(For models using the Wi-Fi Datalogger Dongle)
1. Prepare your setup
Ensure your home WiFi network is operating correctly — test it by connecting with your phone or tablet.
Have a laptop or tablet available, as completing the setup is usually easier on a larger screen.
If you have recently changed your internet provider, modem/router, WiFi network name (SSID), or password, your inverter will need to be reconnected using the updated details.
2. Log in to the ShinePhone app
Open the ShinePhone monitoring app.
If you do not have an account yet, register for free by entering your details in the app.
If you are already registered, simply sign in.
On the dashboard:
- Current Power will show 0 if the Data Logger is offline.
- Current Device Online will also show 0.
3. Open your offline data logger
On the Plant page, tap the plus (+) icon in the top-right corner
Select Data Logger List
Tap the Data Logger you want to reconnect (it will show Offline)
4. Start the reconfiguration process
Tap Configure Data Logger.
You will see two setup options:
- Standard Mode
- Hotspot Mode
Select Hotspot Mode to continue.
5. Put the Data Logger into hotspot mode
Short-press the small button labelled KEY on the dongle.
- The button may be behind a small black cap — remove it if necessary
- Press the button with a thin tool (like a pen or screwdriver)
You must have a solid blue light on the dongle before proceeding.
Some data logger models may have this button on the bottom of the dongle.
6. Connect your phone to the Data Logger
The app will now ask you to connect your phone to the dongle’s WiFi network.
If you see a pop-up saying the connected WiFi name is different from the dongle serial number, tap Go to Set.
Go to your phone’s WiFi settings and select the WiFi network matching the dongle’s serial number.
Both the SSID and the serial number must match the Data Logger you are configuring.
Return to the ShinePhone app and tap Next.
7. Select your home WiFi network
Tap Go to Set if your home Wi-Fi network is not automatically listed.
If needed, you can manually enter your Wi-Fi network name.
Enter your WiFi password carefully.
Important:
- Your Wi-Fi password must not include spaces or special characters
- Passwords are case-sensitive
- Your router must be broadcasting 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (Growatt does not support 5 GHz)
When the Wi-Fi name and password are entered, tap Configure Immediately.
8. Wait for configuration to complete
The configuration process will begin automatically.
When finished, the app will display either:
- Configuration Successful, or
- Configuration Failed
If success:
- Return to the Plant page
- Your inverter data will begin updating
- The dongle will show a flashing blue LED
- In Data Logger List, the device will now appear Online
Troubleshooting
If configuration fails, you may need to retry the steps. Common causes of failure include:
- Incorrect Wi-Fi password
- Password contains spaces or special characters
- Router is not using 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi
- Not connected to the correct dongle Wi-Fi network
- Dongle was not showing a solid blue light before configuration
Try the process again, or switch to Standard Mode if needed.
If problems continue, contact your installer or Growatt support for assistance.
